What Makes a Country Successful2023-07-04

Europe was created by history. America was created by philosophy.

Margaret Thatcher

On the 247 anniversary of the grand experiment called USA, it is good to reflect on what makes a country successful. There are three elements. First are people. Their health, number, and skills. The US had some of the best and brightest immigrate here from around the world. Second is wealth. Natural resources, monetary accumulations, infrastructure. The US has been blessed with a vast land, dominating currency, and visionary building projects. Third is influence. Cultural values and the rule of law, levels of education and creativity, artificial intelligence resources in the future. From the US Constitution to its top universities to Silicon Valley, the US has reigned supreme.

It is clear based on the above criteria that small countries like Switzerland and Singapore can punch above their weight. It is also clear that the competition for dominating the future will be between US and China, with India playing a decisive supporting role to the US.

It all starts with people. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Live. Happier. Longer.
