Upward Slope2025-01-06

Stay hungry, stay foolish.

Steve Jobs

Optimism is anticipation of an upward slope in your life (change over time). It motivates you to do more, to work harder, to take advantage of opportunities. That is hope.

When you start from a low base, almost everything is an upward slope. Once you reach a higher level of achievement in life, upward slopes become harder. To maintain life satisfaction, you shift more to gratitude for how far you have climbed, compared to your former self, or to others less fortunate. That is happiness.

In your later years, there may be a decreasing slope. To maintain life satisfaction, you shift more to significance of how your life has helped others. That is meaning.

You can become young at heart, and optimistic, with an upward slope again, when you start new things, as a beginner, at any age.

And keep track of your Life Satisfaction (happiness, hope, meaning) on a regular basis, through journaling, or with our Life x Mind® app.
